According to big box stores and advertisers, we need to purchase a plethora of brightly colored bottles containing dozens of intense chemicals to effectively clean our homes. In this class we will learn the benefits and pleasure of making our own natural, yet equally effective cleaning products from just a few readily available, non-toxic ingredients.....and just in time for Spring Cleaning! We will learn to make everything we need, including window cleaner, oven cleaner, fabric softener, mold killer and furniture polish. Each participant will receive an illustrated recipe guide and will have the opportunity to make an all purpose cleaner, plus one or two others to take home.

Thursday April 29 6:30-9:30pm
Instructor Tanya Stiller
Location: West Berkeley

Cost: $30-50 plus $10 supply fee to be paid on day of class
Making your own skin care products will reduce your exposure to store-bought toxins in fancy, unnecessary packaging, allow you to make the decisions about what goes on and in your body and save you money. In this class we will learn to make nourishing, self-crafted goods using herbs and everyday household ingredients. We will learn to prepare homemade lotion, lip balm, face cream and toner, and learn how to do an herbal steam. There will be information about different oils for different skin types, which herbs are best for your skin, and which compliment other health concerns. Recipes shared can be altered to fit your needs and creativity. Discussion may include other home spa ideas.
